Clean Virginia is a 501(c)4 independent advocacy organization with an associated Political Action Committee, Clean Virginia Fund. Clean Virginia works to fight corruption in Virginia politics in order to promote affordable clean energy and community control over our energy policy. We are motivated by the core belief that our democracy should serve everyday Virginians over special interests.
Clean Virginia Fund invests in electing and supporting individuals who are committed to being effective champions of good governance, environmental justice, and affordable clean energy to Virginia’s General Assembly and Executive Branch. Clean Virginia and Clean Virginia Fund believe in strong ethics and transparency. Learn more about our donors and donations via the Virginia Public Access Project.
Incumbents and challengers who refuse monopoly utility contributions and have demonstrated a commitment to an equitable clean energy transition and fighting corruption in Virginia can apply to receive early support for their campaigns. Currently, 40 members of the General Assembly have taken a principled stance against accepting campaign contributions from regulated utility monopolies Dominion Energy and Appalachian Power, including their top executives and lobbyists. In addition, these members do not own stock in these companies. A recipient of funds may or may not receive a Clean Virginia endorsement.
Clean Virginia is committed to endorsing candidates who reflect the diverse communities and identities that make up Virginia. We are particularly committed to endorsing candidates who take a principled, unwavering stance against accepting campaign contributions from utility monopolies and who will fight for an equitable transition to clean energy that results in accessible, affordable electricity for all Virginians.
Clean Virginia only supports candidates and incumbents for statewide offices – Governor, Lt. Governor and Attorney General – as well as the General Assembly – Senate and House of Delegates. If you are interested in obtaining funds and/or an endorsement, complete and return our candidate questionnaire. Questions? Email email@example.com.
