From Brennan Gilmore, Clean Virginia Executive Director:
“Clean Virginia has great respect for the Virginia State Corporation Commission and its Commissioners. While the Commission has many responsibilities, none are more important than its role in regulating Virginia’s monopoly utilities, including its consideration of the pending acquisition of Dominion Energy by NextEra Energy.
As a result of State Corporation Commission Chair Kelsey Bagot’s prior employment with NextEra, some individuals have called into question whether she should recuse herself in the acquisition review. Clean Virginia wants to be clear that it strongly believes Chair Bagot will perform her obligations in an objective and ethical manner. Clean Virginia agrees with Chair Bagot’s own analysis as set forth in her recent statement and is pleased that she intends to remain in this case. At no point has Clean Virginia called for her recusal or supported efforts to have her recuse herself from the case. Any assertions that Clean Virginia has acted to the contrary are false.”
